Our interpretation of a neutral shoe is footwear that does not offer extra lateral (outside) or medial (inside, usually for pronation) stability features. Over the years we have noticed that sometimes the extra features can work against the individual's gait, causing the client to roll in or out. Also, with use with a custom orthotic insole, extra stability issues may allow for too much correction. Again, when in doubt when using a custom insole, we suggest consulting your footcare practioner.
